Hafez poetry published in Chinese

The Chinese Ambassador to Iran says Hafez's poetry has been published in China.

The Chinese Ambassador to Iran says poetry by the revered 14th-century Persian poet Hafez has been published in China.

“Today is the commemoration day of Hafez, and Divan Hafez has been published in China,” Chang Hua said in a social media post on Wednesday, adding that Iranian and Chinese nations love poetry.

This year, Iran’s National Day of Hafez is celebrated on October 12, honoring one of the most influential Persian poets of all time.

His poems have been translated into different languages and his art of poetry has been appreciated by several knowledgeable figures.

Hafez was also a huge influence on the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

He came across a translation of Hafez when he was about 65 years old, which changed his life. Without Hafez, he would not have written Western poetry with Eastern content in West-Eastern Divan.
